he - shi Tanning

he - shi

You must try this tan!!

At first, being honest, the name isn't its selling point, but thinking about it, Smeg make great fridges!! So we can get over the name.

I originally trained with St Tropez tanning. At the time this was the main leading tanning company.
Where as now, the market has boomed and there are so many more reparable companies to chose from.

What sold this particular company to me was the results!!!

For great results, it's best to follow the 3 very easy steps,
** Exfoliate,
he-shi offer both an exfoliating glove and a exfoliating body wash. - the body wash is amazing!! It smells like strawberries!!!

**Tan
The initial colour from the spray tan is a healthy glow. - this is from the colour guide.
- you can (I have) apply the liquid tan and wear it out, you get an instant colour that doesn't look dirty, like some tans. PLUS it doesn't have that 'tan' smell.

**Moisturise
After rinsing off the colour guide the next day. All you have to do to look after your tan is use their body suffle  - which also smells of strawberries!!!

Unlike other tans, he-shi doesn't wear off and go patchy.  - that terrible tell of a fake tan.
Like a natural tan, your he-shi tans fades naturally.

They have a great retail  range for clients! From the exfoliates to tan products and the moisturiser.

Hi Brow

To keep up with current trends I researched into all the new High Definition Eyebrow Treatments. I chose to go with Hi Brow. Part of the Lash Perfect family.

The course it's self I would highly  recommend. They were clear and very informal on each step of the treatment.
- The consultation stage was great, they have fantastic tools to help look at the different shapes and shades to customise the brows for all different clients. Along with a handy tool to measure each part and length of the brows.
-Tinting, waxing and tweezing are all skills I've had for over 10 years. But the course instructor showed and gave some new techniques to help build the perfect brow.
-Threading, a new skill and string to my bow. From my understanding there are two main techniques, we were shown the easiest. I'd class it as a 'cats cradle' set up. With this, practise makes perfect
- Then its Trimming the brows and applying concealer.
-Applying the powder, you get brow shields / guides. Out of the treatments I've done so far, I personally find it best with out.
- Wax pencil & growth treatment. Done

What I love about this company and their products, are that you can go as extreme or subtle as your client likes.
The retail compacts are fantastic!! I personally have the grey, as I've blonde hair that's cool in tone. They cost £29.95! But they last!! As in a good 6 months!!
Check out the lash perfect website.
www.lashperfect.co.uk

My personal tips,
- invest in mascara wands, as they help soften the powder to a not so heavy look.

My only criticism was that I booked the course through a third party. Unfortunately this company was very poor at passing on correct information including the proper start time if the course!
I will say, lash perfect were fantastic on sorting out any mistakes made by this company. I would advise booking the course directly with Hi Brow, lash perfect.

I am having so much fun giving my clients amazing brows! The difference is amazing!! 💕

Orly Shade Shifter

Orly shade shifter

Wow!!!
Do you believe in magic?!

I do now!! ✨

Orly have really stepped up to the mark with this beauty of a product!!

It is part of their Gel FX range.

It sounds so simple, just add two coats of 'Shade Shifter' over your Gel FX polish before the Top Coat.

The slogan is
'Clear if your HOT. Dark if your NOT'

It's one to see to believe.

As I only received this product a couple of weeks ago, I am still 'experimenting'!! Hehe

I applied Orly Gel FX primer and base coat. Before two coats of Hawaiian Punch to 8 fingers and Orange Sorbet to 2. Curing in between layers.
I then used Orly Dayglow and Hawaiian punch in POLISH to paint on my flower.
*this is the magic bit.
Apply two coats of Orly Shade Shifter. (It's black in the bottle but starts to go clear as its applied) Cure in between each layer.
To finish apply a layer for Top Coat and cure.

Squeak clean and apply Orly Gel FX Cuticle Oil.

Now, as its gone clear due to getting warm under the lamp. Put your hands in cold water and watch it change!! Amazing!! Magic!!

Orly Obsession

I ❤ Orly

I truly love Orly!!

I have been using there polishes for over 9 years! I was introduced to the range when I began working at Champneys -Inglewood Health Hydro.
Since then, I've used nothing else. My collection of polishes is so huge! Yet, I've the weirdest talent. Hold up a bottle from one of my stands and I can name it!!? Baring in mind I've around 160 polishes!
Orly are very good at keeping up with current trends from the colour range to the collection theme. One of my favourites being the 'Pinup' collection from 2011. Along with 2010's 'Bloom'. Of course I've not always liked every single new collection they have brought out. We all have different tastes along with knowing what our clients would go for.
If you haven't ever tried one of their polish, I strongly suggest you do give one a go. They can be found within Orly salons or the minis are in some Boots stores.
18ml bottles retail for £10.25
5.4ml (mini's) retail for £5.

Then, with the up and coming launch of their 'Mash Up' collection in May. I'm very excited to see what amazing nail designs I can come up with!

Nouveau Lashes

Nouveau lashes

Eyelash extensions.

I first heard of this company through twitter, so started following them about 2 months ago. I was really excited to hear that they were going to be at the professional beauty show in feb. So when I got there I made a bee line for the stand. I was fortunate to be able to speak to a wonderful trainer called Debbie. Wow, what doesn't this lady doesn't know about lashes!!!
( @NouveauLashes / www.nouveaulashes.co.uk )

I just had to try some of these lashes. - I trained under a different company about 3years ago. Not to sound to 'cocky' but I'm very confident I'm my technique. I just wasn't as happy with the quality of the lashes I used.

On the advise of Debbie I bought the Pro 5 glue and 3 sets of lashes! I'm a fan of the 'C' curl. So got 3 different lengths. 9mm, 10mm and 12mm. (I honestly would have got slightly longer ones, but 12mm was the longest they had with them.)

I couldn't wait to get home and play!! I have one tricky customer, who whenever I have done lashes for them before, have only last 3 days?!?! - I've no idea what she does and to make it worse this tough client, is also my mother!! So she was my first victim.
* As my poor mum as naturally very short lashes, I used 9mm from the inside of her lashes to just before mid way. I finished her application with the 10mm.
So far these lashes have been on for 10 days!! Which is amazing!

These lashes are great to work with, they feel and look more natural on and the glue is perfect, quick drying and just the right consistency.

At the moment they have a great deal on their lashes!! So after I find my certificate and uploaded it to their website. I will be stocking up on these amazing lashes.

Fake Bake - Beyond Bronze

Airbrush self- tanner!

I've tried loads of different tans. They all have good points and bad. From the nasty smell to always going streaky around your ankles!
I picked this little gem up at the wholesaler's on a whim! If I'm honest, as it said Fake Bake I was sure it had to be of some good standard but you never know!
Well, I can tell you now, it's one of the best tans I have ever used! It's easy to apply, dries very fast and you can control how dark you want to be, from bronzed goddess to TOWIE!!
**To be a bronzed goddess, apply an even coat every other day to build it up and then every few days to keep it looking healthy. If you like the more tanned look, I would do it everyday until your happy. When the tan fades it doesn't go patchy, I hardly noticed. (Other than looking white after a while) The tan last a good week!

The tan it's self had a slight pinky tone to it, which I've not noticed in other tanning products. I reckon this is the secret ingredient to it being such a great tan!

If you like your tanning products, you must try this!!

Free Hand Nail Art

Free hand nail art

This is a huge passion of mine!! ❤

I love that there are no limits!! I love the creativity!! I love that each one is totally unique and personal to whom ever has there nails done. - It's great when a client comes in with an item of clothing, shoes or an event for me to then match or create nails.

One of my most memorable appointments was a lady going to an 80's party as Mrs Pac Man! Well, there was only one thing to do.
**To create the design I used an Orly blue (Star of Bombay) then, after giving it time to dry a little, I used my dotter as a pen to draw on a Pac Man (Orly- Hook up) and the ghosts along with the white dots. This same client has also had 'festival' nails, which included music notes, wigwam's and camp fires!

My most recent personal designs have been the 'Power Puff girls' and I am currently wearing 'Spice Girl' inspired nails! These were both done in gel. (Orly Gel FX)
** I apply the gel polish as a base, cure, clean off the tacky residue. This leaves the perfect surface to create!! I do tend to use normal nail polish to create my designs. Mostly due to having a greater colour range. When you have finished your design, give it a minute to dry, apply your gel top coat and cure.
It lasts just as long as the gel polish would.
(I love and use Orly - @ORLYbeautyuk)

I am always looking for my next design, from magazines, twitter and just things in life I love. As I said, there are no limits...
So watch this space!!

Morgan Taylor

Morgan Taylor

Introducing Morgan Taylor a new polish range from the US. The colours are vibrant with a great range of 100! Including creme, sheer, pearl, shimmer and glitter. They are available through Louella belle. ( www.louellabelle.co.uk - @Louella_Belle )
I was given 6 colours to try - All dolled up, Little black dress, No way rose, From Paris with love, Who's that girl and Lost in paradise. My personal favourite is All dolled up! I am a girly girl so love pinks!

The varnishes are of a high quality, that don't streak and dry with a lovely finish! I was also given 'Matts a wrap' top coat! OMG! You need this! Its amazing, it gives your a polish a very fashionable Matt finish. I used it over 'Little black dress' then with a glossy top coat, used my dotter to create a polka dot effect. Classy!

I was luckily enough to talk to the creative director. A cleaver women who knows our nail tech needs! We had a great chat about her total involvement in the labs when this range was made. The collection has been infused with rare and precious elements.

This is a gorgeous polish range my only problem is, which colours to try next!!!

Glitter Obsession

Glitter obsession!

My glitter obsession started early this year. A friend had given me a few fine glitters to play around with. Initially I was a bit nervous on how they would turn out. My poor mom was my first victim, if I'm honest they were ok.... They looked good but felt uneven and scratchy. But this was the beginning!!
From then I messed around using different colour glitters on nails along with finding ways to have a smooth finish to the nails.
At the end of Feb at the professional beauty show London I got some amazing glitters from YOUNG NAILS. (@YoungNailsuk - www.youngnails.co.uk ) The individual glitters start at £5.25! They also have 8 piece kits for £36.75!

I have found that my using your dry brush to press the glitter into the tacky/sticky gel polish then pressing in with your finger helps give you a smooth finish. I have found, that's for an almost 'foil' finish, the finer the glitter the better. - So far my ultimate favourite glitter is the silver with a hint of colour in it, ( Young nails - Las Vegas!) put that over any colour and its this crazy disco ball with a accent of which ever colour you have put under neither. AWESOME!!
I am still experimenting with all the possibilities, so watch this space!!

Well hello there. Welcome to my blog. I'll be honest this is all a bit new to me, so be nice but honest! I've been a full time beauty therapist for nearly 10 years, which is a scary thought!
